How to Install The Addons in Blender 4.2

Are you setting up a fresh Blender 4.2 installation and need to get your addons installed? Don’t worry, I’ve got you covered!

While the Blender 4.2 update is still pretty new, I’ve found a simple workaround to manually install your addons until the process is fully streamlined.

Step 1: Open the Run Window

To get started, you’ll need to open the Run window on your Windows computer. You can do this by pressing the Windows key + R on your keyboard.

Step 2: Navigate to the Addon Folder

In the Run window, paste the following line and hit Enter:

%appdata%\Blender Foundation\Blender\4.2\scripts\addons\

This will open the exact folder where Blender 4.2 looks for installed addons.

Step 3: Extract Your Addon Files

Now you can simply extract the contents of your addon zip files directly into this folder. Once you’ve extracted the files, you’ll need to go into Blender, open the Edit > Preferences > Addons menu, and search for the addons by name to enable them.

That’s It!

With your addon files extracted into the proper folder and enabled within Blender, your fresh Blender 4.2 installation should now be set up and running smoothly.
